CS 538 Z ACT wide belt with cloth backing for wood-based materials

Wood and wood-based materials are anything but easy to process. The moisture naturally trapped in wood and the long and short fibre character during sanding found in softwood and hardwood, respectively, require an abrasive that combines minimal clogging and high removal rate into one powerful package. Designed for engineered timber, the high-quality wide belt CS 538 Z ACT with its close coating satisfies these requirements to an exceptional degree. Furnished with antistatic properties, the wide belt is less likely to become clogged by dust and debris . The abrasive belt CS 538 Z ACT owes its exceptionally high removal rate to the following qualities:

  • The hard and sharp-edged grain made of silicon carbide allows for a long service life at high speeds.
  • The highly tear-resistant polyester used as backing and carrier material will stand up to aggressive sanding.
  • The bonding formulated from Klingspor's ACT recipe provides for exceptional grit adhesion and a long service life.

Application options for the abrasive CS 538 Z ACT

The wide belt CS 538 Z ACT truly shines when used for calibration and fine sanding work on engineered timber that calls for defined and smooth finishes. Some materials, e.g. hard fibreboards, pose particularly high requirements on the abrasive. The CS 538 Z ACT always delivers clean and well-controlled sanding, e. g. on both medium density fibreboard (MDF) and high density fibreboard (HDF).

Wide belt CS 538 Z ACT – at home, in industry and at workshops

As a wide belt, the CS 538 Z ACT is intended for use with stationary machinery. It is used in the woodworking industry as well as in furniture making. This high-end wide belt is also widely popular with joinery and carpentry shops as it delivers the high removal rate and precision work these businesses require.

Klingspor wide belts for smooth belt operation and precision work

Abrasive belts that are designed as endless belts have a position where the two ends of the belt are joined, the so-called butt joint. The most common type of belt joint is the F1, a joint where the two ends are cut with a bevel at a defined angle before being joined with an overlap. The belt joint F2 is characterised by grain points that are ground down at the adhesive joint, resulting in even smoother operation of the belt during sanding. There are two additional joint shapes that are commonly used for wide belts - F3 G and F4 G, which are joints created by a zigzag or straight bevel cut of the belt and by supporting the butt joints with a fabric-reinforced tape bonded underneath.
